Tips on how to enjoy your flowers longer
- Buy flowers when buds are beginning to show some color.
- Make sure they are fresh. Do not buy flowers with yellow or wilted leaves.
- Your vase should be fill half or two third with lukewarm water, in this way closed buds will start opening, avoid the cold water otherwise longevity of your flowers will be effect.
- Avoid putting flowers in metal or aluminum, glass vase is ideal.
- Leave freshly bought flowers wrapped and let them absorb clean water for few hours.
- Make sure the vase has been thoroughly scrubbed using a brush.
- Add flower food to the clean vase water; the flowers will open better and last longer.
- Use a sharp knife (rather than scissors) to cut 2 to 4 centimeters off the stems at an angle. Never break or flatten the stems; always cut at 45 degrees to increase the surface area for more water absorption.
- Leaves pollute the vase water and reduce the life of your flowers, so remove all leaves below the waterline.
- Do not put the flowers in the sun or in a draught, as they may wilt. Do not put the vase next to the fruit bowl; it will reduce the life of your flowers.
- Check the water level daily because some flowers are very thirsty.
- For flowers maintain room temperature between 16 to 24 degree.
